Interesting Facts About Sleeping
I’ve came across this article on Yahoo, and I thought I’d share it with you. Basically the article talks about the importance of sleeping, and also ways to overcome sleeping disorders. You might be thinking “sure, what else is new”. Well, think again.
According to the article, 1 in 10 people have problems sleeping every night. I for one am a living Singaporean example of this. In the current fast-pace environment we’re in, it’s hard to be able to go to bed “worry-less”. Okay, so lets skip the usual thing about having less caffeine, etc and go straight to sleeping facts that you probably don’t know.
Set A Bedtime Alert
Yep that’s right. Not a morning alarm, but a bedtime alarm. It is said that you should set the alarm one hour prior to sleeping, then spend the first 20 minutes of that hour finishing household chores, then spend the next 20 minutes washing up, and finally save the last 20 minutes before bed for relaxation.
Don’t Try To Clear Your Mind
On the contrary to what its being said, we shouldn’t try to clear our mind before we sleep. Rather we shouldn’t spend our energy to clear up whatever lingering thoughts that lies in your head. The more you try to empty it out, the more frustrated you get, and in turn, harder for you to sleep. Simple logic, but something I bet none of us ever thought of.
Different Way Of Counting Numbers
Instead of imagining sheeps jumping over your bed and counting them one by one, try a different approach. Count numbers backwards, probably starting from 300. But that’s not all. Count them in 3s, meaning to say it would go something like this: 300, 297, 294, 291,… Reason being that it will help distract you from the stress that you still carry with you to bed.
Bet you didn’t know these facts about sleeping before you read this huh? Anyway these are just some of the more interesting sleeping facts that I’ve picked up. The full article can be read here
