Merlion Hero Gets his $90 back

If you’ve read the papers recently, you would have known that an Dutch Chinese jumped down into the river at the Merlion park to resuce a European lady supposedly wanting to commit suicide. See post

We’ll apparently there’s a follow up to the story today. Mr Filip Lou was reimbursed the $90 he spent on his injuries incurred during his heoric act by a local Singaporean. Many readers offered to pay the $90, but one anonymous person walked straight into the hospital early wednesday and beat everyone else to it.

In addition, Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) also presented an award to Mr. Lou for his heroism.

In the article, the journalist said, “Singapore has a heart afterall”. We’ll its true that many offered to reimbuirse the $90 back to Mr. Lou. But what if the injuries sustained was resulted in an expense of $900? Would Singaporeans still be so generous, especially at this difficult times?

Money aside, lets talk about actually doing the act. Afterall, “action speaks louder than words”. If a Singaporean passed by, would he immediately jump after the lady? I highly doubt so. Seriously speaking during that time, I’m sure there are other Singaporeans around, why didn’t anyone else jump? It had to be a foreigner saving the lady, in a country that is well known for its “hospility”, “friendliness”. Quite ironic ain’t it?

We’ll I wasn’t there personally, so all the above are just based on assumptions. Though in my opinion do Singaporeans have a heart? Well I have my reservations on that statement.
