Next Generation Broadband
Finally, after much waiting households in Singapore are going to enjoy high speed internet access of up to 1Gps, 10 times faster compared to what we are getting now.
According to reports services of this high speed broadband access could be available as early as 1st quarter of next year. The draw back though is only a few locations would be able to enjoy this luxury. These include Macpherson, Jurong, Geyland, and Middle Road areas.
Looking ahead, the possibilities of such technology is almost endless. IP Television like MIO would be more stable, and video streaming quality may also be enhanced. Consumers can also enjoy the use of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) phones, instead of traditional phone lines, which in turn will lead to huge amount of IDD savings.
For hardcore gamers, MMORPGs will also never be the same again. With lower latency, skills and moves can be executed much more quickly in games.
I for one is definitely looking at this move. Hopefully there won’t be further delays. The news about this project has been on-going for years. For those of you who are interested to find out more, you can check out the ISP’s link here
